Hotel Penedo Furado

Hotel Penedo Furado is situated in the centre of the beautiful seaside holiday village of Foz do Arelho. Owned and operated by Arthur and Alice it has 28 recently refurbished bedrooms and just a few minutes stroll to the great value restaurants and friendly bars.

Foz do Arelho, or Foz as it affectionately known, is just one hour from Lisbon Airport and  located at the entrance to the famous Obidos Lagoon (Lagoa do Obidos) and bordered by the Atlantic.

It has a friendly laid back atmosphere and is the perfect location to chill out after a hard day on the golf course. It has been a favourite holiday destination for Portuguese people for generations and today remains unspoiled. Take a leisurely stroll down to the lagoon and watch the local fishermen as they fish for clams, which you will find in the local restaurants. Walk on the promenade or the beach or sit in one of the many cafes and take in the wonderful lagoon views.

Caldas International Hotel

Caldas International Hotel, is situated in the large market town of Caldas da Rainha, (Spa of the Queen) a short drive from Foz do Arelho. This historic town is famous for its Thermal Hospital founded by Queen Leonor  in the late 16th Century. A stature in her honour stands nearby. Caldas is also well known as an important centre for Ceramics. It has a daily market in the main square, is a great place to shop and boasts some fine great value restaurants. Hotel Real d’Obidos

The 4* Hotel Real d’Obidos stands beneath the walls of the medieval walled town of Obidos. The building itself has medieval origins and has been very tastefully restored in the medieval style. It has 15 double bedrooms and two suites each individually named and designed, some with 4 poster beds. The staff are all dressed medieval style. A beautiful garden with heated outdoor pool is a great place to unwind.

Obidos is one of the historic treasures of Portugal and no visit to the region would be complete without a walk through its historic cobbled streets. First given as a gift by King Dinis to Queen Isabel as a wedding gift in 1282 it boasts medieval churches, a castle and whitewashes houses draped with bourgenvilia. Obidos is best enjoyed by taking time to wander round its narrow streets, spending time in its cafes sipping the local Jinja (cherry brandy) and if feeling energetic climbing to the battlements high above.
