Campo Real

Campo Real logo Situated in the countryside near the picturesque village of Turcifal and just off the A8, a short 30 minute drive north of Lisbon, Campo Real is a relatively new but mature golf course. Part of the 5 star Campo Real Golf resort and Spa, this Donald Steel design is etched into the landscape and stretches to a very challenging 6100 metres from the back tee. A Par 72, it starts and finishes with a par 5 and there are major changes of elevation throughout. The course is studded with cork oak, olive and eucalyptus trees.

With the emphasis very much on accuracy, the front 9 cuts its way through rolling hills and deep valleys and the elevated tees offer wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. In the farthest corner of the golf course you will stand on the 7th tee, marvel at the tranquil surroundings with its neat, vine covered slopes and your tee shot down into the deep and narrow valley below somehow doesn’t seem so daunting.

The back 9 does not have the same dramatic elevation changes but is no less challenging and enjoyable. With generous fairways traversed by winding streams it meanders through the Campo Real complex with its impressive villas overlooked by gigantic wind turbines on the hills above.

The undulating greens are mostly generous. Some are tucked away and wayward approach shots will be punished. Each of the par 3’s offers a serious challenge and your accuracy and club selection will be tested to the full.

The course finishes with two excellent par 5’s with the final green overlooked by the inviting clubhouse restaurant bar.
